Hello, I would like to introduce myself to you all. My name is Lesley Sabourn. I will be working to help improve attendance and punctuality in school.
When children’s attendance in school is lower that government and school’s acceptable level, it can be a worrying time for both schools and parents. My aim will be to work towards increasing the number of children in school who have an attendance level of 96% and over. This is school’s targeted attendance level. I will also be working to reduce the number of children in school who are considered to be Persistent Absentees. This term is currently used by government to describe a child who has 90% or less attendance in school.
I will be in St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School every month. I would love to hear from you if you have any concerns about your child’s attendance and punctuality. I will be happy to help support families to address any issues that may be affecting this.
To make an appointment or call in to see me for a chat in school, you can speak with the School Office who will be able to let you know when I will next be in school.
The Attendance Information Sheet below shows the impact missing school has on children’s education.
