School menus are specially designed to meet and exceed the Government’s nutritional standards. It is also very important that children enjoy the choice of meals and we continually monitor children’s preferences. Last academic year we held regular SNAG (School Nutrition Action Group) – These are meetings where children from each class let us know what their class like and dislike about all aspects of lunchtime including school lunches. Following the last meeting we have made a number of changes to the menu.
As meals can now be ordered and choices made via Parent Pay.
We also have special menu days throughout the year which are very popular with the children. These have included:
- Chinese New Year
- Valentine’s Day
- Bonfire Night
- Mother’s Day
- Father’s Day
- Teddy Bears Picnic and many more…
We have reviewed the current meal offer in school and will be in a position to offer hot school meals for KS1 children (Nursery, Reception, Year 1 & Year 2) from Monday 9th November. Please note that children have a 30-minute time slot in which to eat their meal as the hall will need to be cleaned between each bubble. If your child is on packed lunch and have fruit left over they will be allowed to take this outside, however we cannot allow children to take any hot food outside. Sandwich options will continue to be available for children in KS2, but unfortunately, we cannot yet offer them hot meals due to the difficulties in transporting food around school. Once the new menu is uploaded to Parent Pay a text message will be sent out to all parents so meals can be booked in advance. Please note that meals for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are free. Any children who attend nursery full time and require a school meal there will be a charge of £2.10 per day.
